Last week I complained about Mierce Miniatures and to their credit they've addressed my concerns.
Like many others who'd ordered from Maelstrom Games during their 'fire sale' I'd been left without the miniatures I'd ordered. And due to the discounts offered, this order was quite substantial. Despite emails to both Maelstrom during October-November last year, and emails to Mierce earlier this year, I heard nothing.
It seems that although many did have their models delivered, other orders slipped through the cracks. I must've been one of those. I assumed that was that - I'd get nothing.
Seeing the recent new releases for Mierce I decided to email them one more time, and I wrote about how annoyed I was on this blog.
Mierce responded and agreed to fulfil my missing order. They were very gracious about the situation too.
I don't think we'll ever really know what happened with the collapse of Maelstrom. It seems to me that things were stretched far too far and eventually broke. There's a fair discussion of this in the comments here, so I won't repeat things here.
So what do I think of Mierce now? I'll certainly give them the benefit of doubt. Whatever their recent history there's no denying their models are fantastic. When my missing order arrives I'll do some out-of-the-box reviews to demonstrate this.
And based on the customer service I've received I will order from them again. Assuming my models arrive in good order, I'll be recommending them to others too.
And no, this isn't an April Fools.
ReplyDeleteGot my fingers crossed for you! I am all for second chances, needed one or two myself over the years, but I will have my beady eye on Mierce for a few years yet.
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't blame you. Without being too nationalistic about it, I hope they thrive because it's good to see a British company competing in a market with all those excellent companies across Europe, from Poland especially, but also of course France and Spain.
ReplyDeleteI lost 150 GBP to maelstrom :) I emailed them many many times. No response what so ever. I guess they are getting you your orders because you run a blog and it's good PR :)
ReplyDeleteI am a huge Confrontation (rackham) fan, so I have to say I love the mini's but it just feels weird/wrong to buy from them ever again. Especially on how they handled the maelstrom stuff.
Ouch. That's a lot of money. Sorry to hear that. I suppose with models from other manufacturers it's impossible for you to chase the other from them.
DeleteLucas, outstanding Darklands orders were transferred to Mierce, as they were able to fulfil those orders, as they manufacture the product themselves. Davey, as he'd ordered Darklands stuff, should have been sorted out in around December or so, but clearly fell through a crack somewhere. I spotted his blog post and suggested that he chase the order up again. (I did work for Maelstrom, then Maunsfeld, but I got made redundant by Rob a couple of months back, so I couldn't sort it out directly.)
DeleteThe rest of the outstanding Maelstrom orders, unfortunately, there was no money left to buy stock to fulfil. If you used a credit card to pay, you might still be able to claim a chargeback by contacting your credit card company.
Davey, sounds good so far, but out of curiosity, did you get the models from Mierce in the end?
ReplyDelete(Seeing as I stuck my neck out for them last time, it'd be good to know that they delivered...)
They did indeed deliver and I'm going to post something about that on the weekend.
DeleteCrackin'. Good to hear.
