Geek Crafts For Long Winter Nights

As today is supposedly the most depressing of 2014 - and with all the grim weather we've been having it's likely this mood will persist - here are some potential projects to stave off the black dog. I found these little gems in Waterstones recently while browsing for craft books with my wife. Does anything here take your fancy? I'm sure I've seen some of those Zombie Felties for sale on Etsy before. Some of the projects in the Star Wars craft book are wonderfully amateur!

My New Miniatures Display Cabinet - Spring Has Sprung

Spring is here, I've had a mini-hiatus, and I'm back for a summer of hobby goodness. A couple of weeks ago I displayed my work in public for the first time. Then I 'outed' myself as a miniatures artist on Facebook. Now I have my first proper display cabinet. What do you make of this?

We picked it up a few weeks ago from a furniture recovery place in Bristol. It's originally from Bristol University so it's 'old school' in two senses. It's going to take a while to work out how best to arrange everything! This month is going to be all about Oldhammer as I finish prepping my Slaanesh Realm of Chaos Army. And in a first for the Gazette, I'll be featuring the work of someone else, as we get to take a look at the development of my brother's opposing Khrone Realm of Chaos Army.

Twelve Treats Of Geekmas #5

According to numerous sources the viewing experience of season three of HBO's Game Of Thrones will be greatly enhanced with officially licensed beer:

And if that doesn't suit you, how about these unlicensed beer labels?

Twelve Treats Of Geekmas #6

With it being the 200th anniversary of the publication of the phenomenally influential Grimm's Fairy Tales, there was only ever going to be one candidate for a stocking filler today. There are hundreds of editions, but here's one in hardback (it has to be really) that gets my vote:

Twelve Treats Of Geekmas #8 and #7

Double treats today for the refined gamer. Both of these come from the company Geek Chic, who produce wonderful furniture designed for gaming in the shape of RPGs and boardgames. First off, feast your eyes of The Hoplite, possibly the most gorgeous table I've ever seen:

And secondly, here's the GM's Valet, where the classy GM can hatch diabolical plans with which to test their plucky heroes:

These are ridiculously expensive, but when my numbers come up in the lottery I'll be putting in my order!

A Manhattan Gotham Mash-Up

A bit of a double-cult crossover geeky fun here, as the very talented artist Cynthia Sousa Rodgers - who goes by the deviant art handle of 'theamat' - blends the coolness of Manhattan and Gotham. I really love geek chic stuff like this. Here's the link.
