That Was The Week That Was #11

This week's round up highlights some fun looking miniatures that are due to be released in the next couple of months. They all rate highly on my want-o-meter. 

1. Titan Forge have added to their demonic range with some rotten beasts. The highlight is this princely lord character model that would grace any fantasy battlefield:

2. Mantic are fulfilling on their promise of a summer of Kings of War with a batch of new budget friendly minis. I'm quite taken by these werewolves:

3. Finally, Maxmini has released these rather nifty looking Necrohounds, which could be proxies for a range of 40k type...

thingies.

That Was The Week That Was #10

It's the return of a semi-regular round-up feature. Hooray! So what's caught my eye this week?

1. The new Scibor treeman - I absolutely love the look of this model. Do I need it? Not really. Will I get it? Very likely.

2. Manorhouse Workshop have an Indiegogo project on the way. Their buildings look very impressive but they do tend to be on the pricey side, particularly with postage included. This might be a good way to pick up some top quality scenery at a good price. Here's some concept art:

3. And finally, here's a lovely looking Demon Prince from Ultraforge, as a super looking WIP from James Wappel:

This week's roundup captures three aspects of hobby brilliance... in my book at least. That perfect synergy between converting, painting and gaming; a dedication to exploring the fine grain of gaming systems and playability; the raw sculpting excellence that makes sitting down with a new miniature such a joy.

1. Feast your eyes on the incredible Blood Bowl Hall Of Fame at Laughing Ferret's Lab... probably the most inspiring hobby blog page I've ever seen. The Underworld Warp Drivers are one of my favourites:

3. The brilliant BaneLords and BaneLegions now has a new moniker - DarkLands - and webstore - Mierce Miniatures. I'll be dropping by regularly to drool over their latest releases... simply... wow...

My mini round-up this week has a mini-titan feel (if mini-titan isn't an oxymoron too far!)... read on fellow travellers...

1. This brilliant conversion has been doing the rounds for a couple of weeks - it's MGB's Stormtalon Assault Walker Conversion. As far as 'mini-titans' go, this is a damn fine machine! I'd love to see this medium sized walker all painted up. Let's hope they get this done soon.

2. This second example isn't as impressive (but I do appreciate the effort), it's a Knight Errant Titan for a Admech army:

3. Finally - HOLY MOLY! - it's a scratch built Tau Manta (insert multiple exclamation marks...). The Forge World version of this beast costs nearly a grand, so I can appreciate why someone would go for the home brewed option. Personally I think the scale of this model makes it almost impossible to capture all of the detail and it's a project that might be doomed to look far too amateur. Having said that, I am a massive fan of such ludicrous ambition, so a massive round of applause for the vision and effort :-)

Congratulations folks, we all made it to the weekend! I'm getting really fidgety waiting for some concrete news about the rumoured Chaos Space Marines Codex but I've managed to stop gnawing my fingers completely to the bone by delighting myself with the following morsels:
